Travel Vaccinations
Information and advice for travelling abroad
Travel Clinic at Ashburton Park Medical Practice
If you’re planning to travel abroad and need travel health advice from Ashburton Park Medical Practice, please take note of the following:
- Pre-Travel Questionnaire: You must complete a pre-travel questionnaire at least 6 to 8 weeks before your departure. Contact the practice, and our Reception Team will send you a link via text to access an online form. The form is quick and easy to complete, taking around 5 minutes. Paper forms are also available from Reception if required.
- Provide Detailed Information: Fill in the form with as much detail as possible, including your travel destination(s), type of accommodation, and purpose of travel. Once submitted, a nurse will assess your vaccination requirements and determine whether malaria prevention is necessary. You will also be given general travel health advice. Please allow at least one week for this process, though it may take longer during busy periods.
- Booking an Appointment: After your form has been reviewed, you’ll receive a text inviting you to book an appointment. If you do not hear from us within a week, please contact the practice.
- Vaccinations: Please note that not all travel vaccinations are provided by the NHS. If the required vaccine isn’t available at the practice, you will need to attend a private travel clinic.
Important Information
- Schedule your first appointment as early as possible, ideally 6 weeks before departure.
- A second appointment with the practice nurse will be needed to administer your vaccinations. These need to be ordered in advance, and the second appointment should take place at least 2 weeks before travel to ensure the vaccines take effect.
- We do not stock travel vaccines. If you are travelling in less than a month, we regret that we will be unable to process your request.
By planning ahead, we can help ensure your trip is safe and healthy.
